Serangoon Garden Market – Bee Heng Prawn Noodles

Serangoon Garden Market has an interesting mix of famous stalls for Kway Chup, fresh bakes, and bak chor mee. We uncovered a prawn noodles stall that has a constant queue while we were food hunting there.

This stall, Bee Heng Prawn Noodles, is run by two ladies. Looking at the queue at 8 plus in the morning, we were determined to give it a try.

What we ordered: Dry prawn kuay tiao and dry prawn beehoon + noodles ($4.50 each)

Each bowl comes with a small bowl of broth, and as a seasoned prawn noodie, I always try the broth before the noodles. The broth is a reliable sign of how delicious the noodles will be. Bee Heng’s broth is an enjoyable mix of flavours. You can taste the flavour of prawns, and it’s not overly salty.

The kuay tiao is covered generously with sauce, and comes with 2 prawns. I gave the kuay tiao a good toss and mix and was slurping my way through the bowl in satisfaction.

Conclusion: For $4.50, the prawn kuay tiao is a small but delightful bowl of happiness.

Ratings: 4 out of 5 stars.
